I come from a diverse international background, living and teaching in many cities across the United States and Europe, including Los Angeles, New York, Prague, Bonn, and now Bucharest. From a young age, I often relocated internationally, so I understand how to support a student’s need for resilience and adaptation. Because of this, I take a keen interest in every student’s background.
I grew up in Greece, the United States, England, Austria and France. I started my teaching career in New York after obtaining a Master’s degree at Columbia University, and have since taught in both primary and secondary schools, a Montessori school while in Prague and currently, a British international school in Bucharest. I also have experience teaching Cambridge exam preparation courses to adults (A1 through C2 levels) at the Volkshochschule in Bonn, Germany, and teaching refugee children in the same city.
I use my diverse background to create a dynamic style of teaching, using both kid and adult-approved, interactive aspects in all my lessons, such as art, music, and drama. In my online lesson with adults, I place a strong emphasis on speaking and presenting the English language so that even beginners can improve their soft skills in effective negotiation, persuasion, compelling speech writing and presentation. My adult students include IT professionals, lawyers, businessmen and women, and I have helped them to learn and the use relevant, specialised vocabulary of their profession effectively to meet their communication goals with their colleagues and clients from other parts of the world. This, as I have experienced, allows students to learn more than just the target language. My personal teaching mission is to ensure that all my students – of all ages – continue learning new things in a joyful way, both inside and outside the classroom.
